SOLARLOK PV4-S

Our SOLARLOK PV4-S DC Crimp Connectors are typical traditional connectors with a Standard Solar Interface, for applications in junction boxes and directly at the panel, as well as for harnesses and jumpers for field installation. Adapted for 1500V DC cable connecting solutions.

SOLARLOK PV4-S DC Crimp connectors are rated IP68, international standard meaning they are resistant to submersion in water to a maximum depth of 1m for up to 24 hours – as well as being deemed fit enough to withstand dust, dirt and sand. This is carried out for European standard weather conditions, to ensure that a reliable connection is guaranteed even in the harshest environments - with an estimated field lifetime of more than 20 years. They have even been used successfully in a floating solar farm in Russia, in extreme cold.

Our connectors have low contact resistance (≦ 0.3mΩ) for less power loss and are compliant with the NEC 2008/2011 tool which is required for de-coupling. They use 100% virgin raw material and also benefit from a two-year warranty.

Frequently Asked Questions

Question: How many SOLARLOK DC Crimp Connectors would TE expect to be required for a 25 MW solar farm?

Answer: The standard rule of thumb is 300 sets of connectors for a 1MW solar farm. So for a 25 MW solar project, we would need 7,500 sets of PV4-S connectors. By ‘a set’ we mean a mated pair - so one male and one female connector.

 

Question: Solar panels are usually delivered with connectors already installed – so which ones are TE’s SOLARLOK connectors compatible with?

Answer: Our SOLARLOK range of connectors has a Standard Solar Interface, which makes all of them compatible with almost all of the other solar connectors on the market.

 

Question: Do TE’s SOLARLOK 2.0 DC Connectors and PV4-S Connectors have the same interface?   

Yes, they do. Our SLK 2.0 and PV4-S Connectors have a Standard Solar Interface.

 

Question: What is the minimum and maximum insulation thickness allowable in TE’s SOLARLOK DC Crimp Connectors? 

Answer: Our PV4-S connectors can use the standard range of EN50618/IEC 62930 cable. However, we define a specific range of 5,9 mm to 7,2 mm.

 

Question: Once locked and used, can TE’s SOLARLOK DC Crimp Connectors be unlocked and reused?

Answer: Once mounted on cable, our PV4-S connectors can be unlocked, but must not be reused – which is the same for all the other solar connectors on the market.

 

Question: What is the estimated product lifetime of TE’s SOLARLOK PV4-S DC Connectors?     

Answer: Our PV4-S connectors have successfully passed IEC and UL standard testing. IEC tests are carried out for European standard weather conditions, to ensure that our connectors can guarantee a reliable connection even in harsch environments.
